HP ENVY 5530 Troubleshooting

HP ENVY 5530 Troubleshooting Clear Paper Jam

A ‘Paper Jam’ error is displayed when the HP ENVY 5530 Printer stops printing feeding pages during printing

The printer’s control panel displays a brief instruction on removing paper jams.

  • Disconnect printer power cord
  • Open the access door of the cartridge
  • Remove the jammed paper from the cartridge access area
  • Take care to see to it that you do not tear whole sheets of paper
  • Gently remove any bits of torn paper jammed in the rear roller by lifting the paper path cover
  • From the duplex path cover, remove all torn & bits of paper located right beneath the paper path cover
  • Click both the duplex & the paper path covers back into their places
  • The cartridge access door can now be closed
  • The HP ENVY 5530 Printer should be placed on a flat surface so that the input tray does not bend
  • All obstructions such as small objects, pens, pencils etc. should also be cleared
  • The printer can be turned gently to look for any pieces of paper trapped in the input tray
  • After a complete check you can now return the printer to its normal position
  • Clear all display messages on the control panel after connecting the printer power cord

Any paper jammed in the input tray can be cleared

  • Pull out the input tray
  • Remove all the loose sheets
  • Remove any visible & remaining bits of paper
  • Put the printer power off
  • Wait for 30 seconds before you turn the printer power on

To test printing ability print a Printer Status Report

Get the printer serviced if the error still persists

HP ENVY 5530 Troubleshooting fax

Faxing issues resolved by HP ENVY 5530 Troubleshooting are as follows:

Faxes are received but cannot be sent

  • Verify the dialed number verification – if the number is correct & all digits to access the long distance service are present
  • For Speed Dial computers: Dial manually out of the HP printer by printing a page to fax separately
  • The appropriate Tone Dialing or Pulse Dialing option should be available & selected in the HP fax
  • For manually sent faxes (not from the computer) connectivity between the computer & the printer has to be checked
  • Click on Status in the HP Director Application
  • Verify physical cable connection between both devices if the Status is disconnected

Intermittent fax failures

  • Fax communication can fail if the phone cable is coiled & too long or there is a static in the phone line
  • The telephone service provider should be notified immediately to rectify the static phone line – One of the most common causes of the intermittent fax failure is the poor quality of the phone line
  • Echoes & cross-talks in the line are as a result of long & coiled cable lines besides the loss of signal strength – always use the original fax cables provided along with your HP product for safety
